Johan Niklasson Emergency Medical Fund
Donation protected
In December, while on vacation in Kauai, Johan had an aortic dissection and was airlifted to Honolulu for emergency heart surgery. Thankfully, he survived. Unfortunately, he had a stroke during surgery, which is not uncommon in these types of emergency situations.
Johan is fit, strong, and iron-willed. He will, however, need extensive, long-term rehabilitation.
He is a warm beacon of light in an often dark world: infectiously enthusiastic, optimistic, full of energy to help others, and a steady voice in a storm. He is a loving husband, father, brother, son and friend, a landscape architect, cook, mixologist, hiker, kayaker, carpenter and blues guitarist who gives far more to the world than he takes.
This fundraiser is your opportunity to give back to Johan and his family when they need it most. The goal is to get him the very best care for the best possible recovery.
The family has health insurance, however, it will not fund long-term care and many costs are not covered. As a caregiver, Courtney’s income is severely impacted, and Johan’s business is completely eliminated for the foreseeable future. Funds raised here will be used to help pay for:
- Rehabilitation (estimate: $300,000)
- Home health care aids (estimate: $30,000 a month)
- Alternative therapies that have been proven to be highly effective but are not covered by insurance, like acupuncture and massage (estimate: $3,000 a month)
Thank you so much for your prayers and any contributions you can make toward Johan’s recovery.
