My bother Johan, is a popular person in my hometown of Luperon, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.

3 weeks ago, he went to a local private hospital as he was complaining of some pain and wanted a prescription which would help him with the pain. The medical staff found out that he needed surgery to address complications with his gallbladder, which is a straightforward process is most cases.

Unfortunately he has developed a number of complications due to his underlying condition of type 1 Diabetes.

We have now found, that Johan has lost the mobility on his lower limbs and cannot feel his legs and has been fighting for his life in Intensive Care after the gallbladder operation.

What was meant to be a quick visit to the doctor's, have resulted in a life threating condition which to be able to have a chance to make it out alive it has to be treated at a private hospital and not the public healthcare system in the Dominican Republic.

This has come at a time where we lost our father to covid-19 back in March, our uncle who could not bear the death of his brother (our father) back in June, which in both cases we tried our best to save their lives spending every cent we had for them.

Johan's hospital is suggesting to releasing from hospital due to the lack of funds to pay for his treatment and a human being cannot accept such a situation which separates life from death to someone who is only 41 years old or anyone for that matter.

Our sister has left her kids and husband to be by our brother bedside at all times and struggling to medicines that we need to get ourselves .

We do not know how much, this would cost which currently stands at around £10, 000 (US$13, 700) right now and I could not not give my brother another try . So I have decided to this in search of hope... We know that not everyone in this time and age can help with money, but i am sure that forwarding/sharing this would reach magical people......
