Hi. My name is Joey. Or at least that’s what they’re calling me now because apparently I was found wandering around the St. Joe neighborhood and the humans thought that was “too perfect not to use.” I don’t fully understand branding, but I support it.

Here’s what I know so far: I am approximately 9 months old. I have endless energy. I may have been raised by raccoons. I was found outside on Friday, May 8. A nice lady took me in, but her senior dog Phoebe is dealing with congestive heart failure, so she couldn’t keep a chaotic puppy roommate long term. Another human agreed to take me in on Sunday, May 10... which I later learned was Mother’s Day, so honestly the pressure is on for me to become someone’s sweet baby angel instead of a tiny land shark.

We were eventually able to connect with my previous owner, who loved me very much but lost his housing and had to make the heartbreaking decision to let me go. So now I’m getting a second chance. The timing is kind of wild because my new human lost her dog Sam in February after 13 years together. From what I hear, he was a very good boy and very much loved. I’m not trying to replace him. That would be impossible. But I am trying to aggressively heal everyone through emotional support zoomies.

Unfortunately, I arrived with some... needs. Apparently society expects me to: get vaccinated, get neutered, learn “manners,” and stop acting like every leaf is a national emergency. The good news is my new human can take care of me long term. The bad news is I showed up like an unexpected group project with startup costs.
