Help My Brother Fight Glioblastoma
On January 5, my brother Joey’s life changed in an instant. He collapsed at work from a seizure and was rushed to the hospital—only for things to take an even more devastating turn. While there, he suffered a heart attack and heart failure. A CT scan and MRI revealed something even worse—a brain tumor. Because of the heart attack and blood thinners, surgery wasn’t immediately an option.
Weeks later, just as we were preparing for his brain surgery, he had to receive six pints of blood due to a sudden GI bleed. And then days before the procedure, he was placed in a medically induced coma to control uncontrollable seizures.
When he finally underwent surgery, we had a glimmer of hope that he might recover. But after waking up, he wasn’t the same. He was hallucinating, confused, and not himself. We kept telling ourselves it would pass. Then, the pathology results came in.
It’s Glioblastoma.
As if this nightmare wasn’t already unbearable, Joey does not have health insurance. The medical bills are staggering, and the costs of his ongoing care, treatments, and basic necessities are overwhelming.
I can’t put into words the devastation I feel watching my brother go through this. He has been through so much in such a short time, and despite everything, I have to keep showing up for him.
I haven’t been able to work for the past two months because caring for him is my priority. I don’t know how to do this alone.
If you can help in any way—by donating or simply sharing this page—it would mean the world to us. Every bit of support allows me to stay by his side, ensure he gets the care he needs, and bring some relief during this unimaginable time.
Thank you for reading, for your kindness, and for keeping Joey in your thoughts.
Please contact me if you have any questions, and I will keep everyone updated.
