Edit: See recorded runs from 1st - 22nd March 2026 in the photos section.
Hi, my name is Aoife and I'm from Ireland but living in Spain. I am an English language teacher, ultra runner, and animal lover. I have been fostering two kittens called Joey and Phoebe since they were around 4 months old. They were rescued as babies from the streets of Spain by the wonderful cat rescue group RACA - Riviera Abandoned Cats Association and have been in search of their forever home for 8 months. After having secured homes for them, they were sadly let down on two occasions by their adopters and ended up coming back to me each time. Therefore, after having formed such a special bond with them and never wanting to say goodbye again, I have decided to adopt them and bring them back to Ireland.
Our cat rescue group is largely self-funded by the rescuers, foster carers and through donations from the public. In order to transport Joey and Phoebe to Ireland, we must raise funds for the transport, carriers, vaccines, passports, and microchips necessary for them to be allowed to travel internationally. Therefore, I will take on the challenge to run 20km per day every day during March 2026. That is 20km x 31 days = 620km. I will post the movements recorded by my watch every week so that there is full transparency.
All funds raised will go directly to pay for Joey and Phoebe to get to Ireland and any excess funds will be donated directly to RACA to help them continue their life saving work which includes, feeding cat colonies, neutering and spaying, rescue and rehabilitation, fostering, adoptions, and raising public awareness on responsible pet ownership and the humane treatment of animals.
Thank you all so much and let's hope we can get these two sweet fur babies to their forever home where they belong.
