Help Joe’s Recovery from Horrific Car Accident
Donation protected
I coached Joe for 4 years in college where he was a pitcher for the New England College Pilgrims. Joe was a constant leader for the team by being the hardest worker and constant sounding board and reference for his teammates. Through Joe’s effort and attitude, he went from being a little used reliever to our number two pitcher. In his final collegiate outing, Joe pitched 10 innings to help the Pilgrims win a playoff game in the conference tournament.
Joe had recently moved into his own place and become a successful realtor in Newport County, RI. Unfortunately, Joe was in a horrible car accident in the end of May. His injuries include a broken left femur, right ankle and foot, as well as breaks in both wrists and forearms. Joe spent several days in and out of surgeries in an attempt to triage his injuries. After several days, he developed compartment syndrome in his right leg which led to a triple fasciotomy.
Joe was sent home from rehab without full use of any of his limbs. He navigates his home in a wheel chair but getting in and out requires assistance as all four of his limbs are currently non-weight bearing. He’s unable to do much of anything independently, requiring him to move in with his parents in NJ to get the help needed to care for his wounds, help him in and out of bed, and get to and from doctor’s appointments. He is far from out of the woods as infection and amputation are still very real concerns.
Please help Joe pay for his existing medical bills, necessary accommodations, and day-to-day expenses that arise with his condition.
