Dear friends, family, and compassionate individuals, I am reaching out to you today with a heavy heart and a tale of loss and devastation. In the early hours of Saturday, June 8th, my life, and the lives of my incredibly beautiful friends Jen and Dan King were changed forever. Jen and Dan together over 18 years turned the iconic Wheel Inn into their home, studio, workshop and all around sanctuary for all things art, creativity and unconditional supportive love. This past winter, as i had fallen on hard times Jen and Dan would offer me a tiny apartment in the building upstairs where I would spend the last few months reforming my life. To me it was the Taj Mahal. And gave me self worth that had been long since eradicated along the way.

The aftermath was unfathomably devastating . Fire departments from every surrounding town would be called to action. In their attempts to quell the blaze they would inevitably empty the fire hydrants near by completely, and subsequently need to pump water from nearby watershed sources. When the smoke had cleared the building was in a smoldering, unrecognizable pile of rubble. In less than an hour from the time i left my apartment, the entire building was on the ground. The flames consumed everything each one of us held dear and worked hard for, leaving us homeless and shaken to the core of our beings. .
Every original piece of art, antiques and book collections Jen had curated, all of Dan’s hundreds and hundreds of tools collected over a lifetime of master craftsmanship, And every piece of music and literature that I myself composed in times of loss, triumph and tragedy alike. And my tablet holding all of my writings and sacred music for the church, and even the yamaha keyboard i use to make my living and a magnificent amolifier that was on loan from a dear friend.
I am not sure how to even begin to process all of this. Among the ashes and rubble lie my precious memories and cherished photographs of my late father. Little trinkets of silent reverie. These irreplaceable treasures, which held the essence of our bond and shared experiences, have been reduced to run by the unforgiving blaze.
As I stand in awe amidst the ruins of what was once our sanctuary, (my safe once gifted by these incredible humans) I am overwhelmed with a profound sense of loss and uncertainty about the future. The road to recovery seems daunting, but I am determined to rise from the ashes and rebuild my life from scratch. The three of us stand together today as we have since day one. To aid me in this arduous journey, I have decided to initiate a GoFundMe campaign. Your support and generosity can make a world of difference in helping me piece together the fragments of my shattered existence and forge a new beginning.
Your contributions, no matter how big or small, will serve as a beacon of hope in my darkest hour and will help me lay the foundation for a brighter tomorrow. Your kindness and empathy will be eternally cherished and remembered. Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and thank you in advance for your consideration and support. Your benevolence will not only help me rebuild my life but will also restore my faith in the inherent goodness of humanity.

With
heartfelt gratitude and a glimmer of hope,
                 Best Regards,
                         Joes Peck
