Our friend Joe is an honest, hardworking family man who has always put his family first. As a combat veteran and handyman, Joe has worked for us for over three years, often pushing through pain to provide for his wife and two daughters—one in middle school and one in elementary school. Life has been challenging for them, as they have been living in their trailer home for over a year. Recently, Joe was scheduled for knee replacement and straightening the bones in his legs, a procedure needed after years of pushing through his injuries. This surgery will require a long recovery and keep him from working for about four months.

Tragically, the day before his surgery, disaster struck. Their trailer home burned to the ground, leaving the family with nothing but the clothes on their backs. As Joe underwent surgery, his family scrambled to find a safe place to stay. They are currently living in a hotel while Joe recovers, but the road ahead is daunting. His wife’s income from house cleaning is not enough to sustain the family, especially as she now needs to care for Joe and drive him to his medical appointments.

We have been helping as much as we can, but the family needs more support to cover medical expenses that might not be covered by the VA, temporary housing, replacing their belongings, food, and the many essentials required to rebuild their lives from scratch.
