Help Joel Overcome Life-Changing Injuries

My dad, Joel Cain, was on his motorcycle and slowed down for a vehicle, making a right turn, when he was struck from behind by another vehicle, which had failed to stop. He was thrown off the rear of the bike, striking the fender and front corner post of the vehicle that hit him. He them slid on the asphalt, tumbling to a stop in the oncoming traffic lane. A large semi truck locked its brakes coming to a stop to avoid hitting him. Miraculously, he survived, but the injuries he sustained are severe and will have lasting effects on his mobility and quality of life.

His right shoulder was shattered with severely displaced bones and bone fragments. He also has a fractured rib and severe road rash on multiple areas of his body.

He was in the trauma unit at Miami Valley Hospital and had surgery on his right shoulder. He faces more surgeries, painful treatments on several areas of the road rash, and many months of rehabilitation.

The surgeon said that sadly, his arm would never be the same.

Joel has been a loving husband of 33 years to my mom, a selfless, protective provider to 3 children and a funny, devoted hero to 5 grandchildren. He's willing to lend a hand and show kindness to all those around him, be it family, friends, co-workers, or strangers. He's quick-witted, very intelligent, and generous.

Joel gives so much of himself, touching many lives, and now he needs our support more than ever.

With Joel unable to work for the foreseeable future, the financial strain is overwhelming. Any contribution,no matter the amount—will make a significant difference in easing this burden and supporting his road to recovery.
