My name is Rena and I am hoping to help my cousin in his fight against cancer.

Joel Logan, originally from Port Coquitlam, is in the fight of his life.

In December, Joel was diagnosed with cancer. His treatment was going well, and he was facing everything with the strength and courage we all know him for. But in May, a devastating complication changed everything—he got sepsis when his intestine ruptured. He underwent emergency surgery and was placed in an induced coma to allow his body a chance to heal.

While in that coma, Joel suffered a stroke. Twice during this time, Joel’s heart stopped. Twice, we almost lost him. But Joel—being Joel—fought back.

Now, he’s awake. He’s still with us. And he’s still fighting.

This journey has been unimaginably hard on Joel and his family. Throughout it all, his amazing soccer family and friends, rallied to support them emotionally and financially, helping keep things afloat during the darkest days. But today, Joel’s family is facing a new, urgent challenge.

Joel is preparing to start two different types of immunotherapies, a promising treatment that could help his condition and make it possible for him to survive.

Some of this treatment is covered but there is still a shortage of $8800.

Joel’s family never imagined they would be asking for help. But they are doing everything in their power to give Joel every chance to recover. Now, they need our help.
