Joel Garcia, our beloved San Diego neighbor, handyman, rock-and-roll soul, and dinosaur enthusiast, was badly injured in a serious motorcycle accident.

Many of you know Joel for his iconic curly hair, his love of Led Zeppelin, his endless stories, and his heart for helping anyone, anytime. He’s the guy who will fix your sink, get your keys out of your locked car, or brighten your day with a laugh. Bottom line, he’s your go-to guy.

As many of you know, Joel often travels to Tijuana to help his mother and younger brother, especially after the passing of their father nearly two years ago. On the evening of Sunday, September 14th, while riding his motorcycle back to the States, Joel was in a terrible accident. He was knocked unconscious, and the driver responsible fled the scene.

The impact from the accident left Joel with multiple fractures in his wrist, a broken clavicle, and a fractured scapula. He is currently immobilized and in severe pain.

Joel has no medical insurance and is facing mounting hospital bills after being rushed to the ER in Tijuana and then needing additional emergency care and imaging in the U.S. He is now in a cast and will be seeing an orthopedic surgeon soon to determine the best course of treatment. He will also be out of work for an extended period of time as he begins the road to recovery.
