Help Joe Rebuild and Recover in a Safe Space

Hi! My name is Monica. I am raising funds to make my big brother's home safe for his medical recovery.
## Help Joe Rebuild and Recover

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

I'm reaching out to you today with a heavy heart to ask for your support for my big brother, Joe. He is not only my hero, but an actual hero to the many lives that he has saved. I love him with all my being, and you would love him too.
Joe has always put the needs of others ahead of his own, but now he finds himself in a dire situation where he needs our help. Joe needs $75,000 to repair his home quickly, specifically his floor, and prepare for his long recovery.

Joe is currently preparing for an urgently needed liver transplant, hopefully within a month, a daunting journey in itself. I just returned from staying with him at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, where he was rushed for emergency treatment. To make matters worse, a flood from a burst water line caused by an earthquake and extensive hail and wind recently severely damaged his residence, destroying almost all flooring, leaving him without a kitchen or safe place to recover.

Joe has always been a beacon of selflessness and strength. His devoted wife of 40 years and their two amazing children are all working in public service. Everyone knows that when they are in need, they can go to Joe for help. He’s the first to lend you tools, help you work on your car, teach your kids to be good humans, and support his neighbors. His home was a safe haven for kids with a troubled life. He sees the value in people that are suffering, even taking in and raising other people’s children. When a tornado hit his neighborhood, Joe even sent the insurance adjuster to his neighbor’s house first, despite his own home being severely damaged. The water damage reached deep into the joists, leaving his flooring structure rotted away and the overall state of his house unsafe for him physically, especially given his health condition.

Joe has lived a life of service. Growing up he protected me, his much younger sister, from a difficult home environment. He spent his precious time teaching me the values of kindness and independence. I was the only 8-year-old girl in town wielding nun chucks and throwing stars. I knew all the words to every Heart, Metallica, and ACDC song he played on repeat. His commitment to others continued throughout his career. He was an Air Force instructor, a firefighter, and a law enforcement officer. Joe also worked tirelessly with troubled teens, and worked for the Veterans Association at the VA hospital where he alone started a volunteer driver program to help veterans get to their medical appointments.

A bit more about Joe’s background:

- Joe was a firefighter at one of the busiest airports in the world, trained at 19 when all others were much older.
- He had top secret government clearance giving him the chance to serve in Alaska, which he fondly remembers as paradise.
- As a DOD airfield crash instructor at Chanute USAF Base, he taught critical rescue procedures and equipment use.
- He has saved countless lives
- Despite severe injuries, hearing loss, multiple surgeries, countless broken bones obtained in the line of duty that left his spine twisted and his body in constant pain, Joe never stopped helping others.

Joe’s health challenges are immense. His liver failure, likely due to exposure to various chemicals and fuel during his service, has led him to the brink of needing a transplant. Despite his battles with pain and disability, Joe's spirit and sense of humor remains unbroken.

We need your help to raise $75,000 to repair Joe's home and ensure he has a safe place to recover after his transplant. You can be proud of your donation going to the most deserving person I know. Funds will go directly to repairing the water-damaged floor and other essential repairs. Joe would never ask for help himself, but I must do everything I can to support the brother who has always supported me and so many others.

Joe's life has been dedicated to serving and protecting others. Now it's our turn to give back to him. Please consider donating and sharing this request with others who might be able to help. Any amount you can contribute will make a huge difference.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity and support!

Warm regards,
Monica Levi and family
