On November 28th, my husband Joe and I experienced something no family should ever have to go through. After leaving a gas station, we were targeted and attacked by a stranger. The incident escalated quickly—our car was hit, and when I got out, I was pushed so hard that I hit my head, lost my glasses, and my phone was knocked away. Joe, who is 73 and lives with dementia, witnessed this and tried to help. The attacker then turned on him, breaking his jaw, his nose, knocking out two teeth, and causing injuries to both his hands. The person responsible is now in custody, but the physical and emotional toll on our family has been overwhelming.
Since the attack, we have been focused on Joe’s recovery. The medical and dental bills have placed a heavy financial burden on us, and the costs continue to add up. We are doing everything we can, but the financial strain is more than we can manage alone. Your support will help us pay for Joe’s surgeries, dental work, and ongoing care so he can heal and regain his strength.
I am deeply grateful to Danille for reaching out to Susanne from Channel 2 News and to Theresa from Mario for helping share our story. We are asking for help from our community, friends, and anyone moved by our situation. Any support you can offer—no matter the amount—will make a real difference for Joe and our family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and generosity.https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/oak-lawn-road-rage-couple-attacked-beaten/
