Our beloved husband, dad and friend Joe Carapeta has been battling cancer for the past ten years. After successful treatment, he became a survivor and was a hero to all of us. Continuing to work side by side with his beloved wife Alex, he has provided for his family and brought light into the lives of everyone he encounters. Always with a smile and a cheery hello, Joe was the picture of strength and health. Life was wonderful and his family grew with marriages and grandchildren. In the fall of 2020, Joe began to experience severe neck and back pain. He sought the advice from multiple specialists and for many months no test determined a source for his pain. Ultimately, doctors found not one but two cancers ravaging his body. He has endured multiple treatment trials with chemotherapy and radiation. There were small successes and brief moments of hope. Unfortunately, last week brought devastating news to Joe and Alex. Teams from two independent cancer centers told them that Joe’s prognosis was terminal and they were running out of options. Joe and Alex then heard about a possible treatment option in Florida. This alternative treatment is giving Joe one last hope but unfortunately it is not covered by health insurance. Committing to this extensive treatment would also require them to relocate to Florida for 3 months and make them unable to work during that time. The medical and living expenses are extremely high but we are hopeful that this option will improve his quality of life in this fight with cancer. Joe and his family would be deeply grateful for any generosity that can contribute to the new treatment to help ease this hardship.
