Help Joe Get to Work Safely and Independently

Joe is a hardworking member of our community who relies on a 4.2-mile commute to get to his job in Westminster, Maryland.

Joe faces challenges that make reliable transportation especially important. Like many people, he recently had to move farther from his workplace in order to find affordable housing. As a result, getting to work safely and consistently has become much more difficult.

This fundraiser exists to solve that problem — once, and the right way.

We are raising funds to provide Joe with a safe, reliable electric bike and a complete commuter safety setup, along with the long-term support and education needed to make this solution successful well into the future.

This isn’t just about giving Joe a bike.

It’s about giving him a dependable way to get to work, maintain his independence, and keep earning a paycheck.

• An e-bike-rated helmet and a high-security lock

• High-quality front and rear lighting and visibility gear

• Professional bike fitting and setup

Just as importantly, this project also includes:

• Long-term mechanical support to keep Joe’s bike safe and reliable over time

• Education and guidance on road-commuting safety, so Joe can ride confidently and predictably

• Ongoing assistance as his commuting needs evolve

This ensures that the initial gift of the bike and safety gear becomes a lasting solution, not a short-term fix.

Who’s Making This Happen

This effort is being coordinated by Turtle Rock Ebikes, a locally owned e-bike shop led by an owner with more than 30 years of experience in the bicycle industry and formal training in bicycle safety as a League of American Bicyclists Certified Instructor.

Joe is supported by caregivers and advocates in his daily life. This fundraiser is an independent, community-led effort focused solely on helping him succeed.
