Our Story

Hi, I'm Jessica, and I'm reaching out for support for my incredible partner, Joe. Many of you know our journey—Joe is a true survivor, having endured a traumatic car fire that resulted in 80% of his body being covered in 3rd degree burns. After a long battle, he received a groundbreaking face and bilateral hand transplant, becoming an inspiration to thousands around the world.

The Challenge

Despite his remarkable resilience, Joe faces ongoing health challenges. His immune system requires monthly infusions of immunosuppressants, which are crucial to prevent his body from rejecting his transplants. These treatments take place in New York City, and every trip poses a significant risk to Joe’s health. Exposure to the heat, cold, or germs can severely affect his condition.

Why We Need Your Help

Currently, Joe's medical team expects him to use public transportation to get to his appointments, but this is not a safe option. As a nurse working in the operating room, I often have to call off work to ensure Joe gets to the city safely. However, this is not sustainable for us in the long term.

We are asking for your support to raise funds that will help us cover the costs of safer transportation options for Joe. This will include rideshare services, private transportation, or any other means that ensure he can travel to his appointments without risking his health.
