Hi my name is Amy Andruski and I am fundraising to assist with the costs associated with reinstating Joe’s drivers license as the result of a medical suspension.
As some of you may already know, on December 27, 2022 Joe suffered a life altering stroke as a result of a blood clot in his brain. Joe underwent emergency surgery to remove the clot and for the most part the large blood clot was able to be removed. However, some of the clots on his brain were deemed inoperable and remain. Hours after his surgery Joe’s brain began to swell uncontrollably which then resulted in an additional surgery (Craniectomy) in order to reduce the swelling.
Thankfully, Joe was able to recover medically but is still unable to move anything on his left side of the body. The doctors have suspended his license due to medical conditions.
A drivers licence will help Joe to regain some independence and give him employment opportunities in the future. The costs associated with the process required to lift the medical suspension are include a $900 initial assessment, driving lessons, an additional assessment after multiple lesson as well as the vehicle modifications required. Joe’s license now has a temporary reinstatement for driving lessons only in a vehicle with the required vehicle modifications. The lessons and assessments are not done locally so now there is an additional burden of high fuel costs to make it to the multiple lessons required.
We are hoping that that you may consider making a donation to help offset these extra costs.
