Help Joe fight Hodgkin’s

It is with a heavy heart, that I am here to share with you that my 15 year old nephew, Joe Haight, my sister Tiffany’s oldest son, has been diagnosed with stage 3bs Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He went to the doctor in February for swelling in his neck. After numerous tests and biopsies, we got the news that no one ever wants to hear. Cancer. A PET scan not only revealed that it’s in his neck but also a few other spots in his abdomen. Today, March 18th, he started his fight against cancer with chemotherapy.

    Anyone who knows Joe, knows he is an avid athlete. Whether it’s on the football field, baseball field or throwing the ball with his Papa, he’s always active. He’s a competitor and he will beat this. It will be difficult at times but he is a strong fighter armed with a positive attitude. We will not give up and the care and generosity of others will help ensure he and his family have the best possible chance for a bright future.

    It’s never an easy time to ask for help, but the medical bills, cost of traveling, loss of work, etc. are already starting to add up and this is just the beginning. He will be enduring several rounds of chemo over the course of many months, with the hopes of no radiation. As most of you know, Joe has three younger siblings he lives with who look up to him and are also being greatly affected by this as well. This will be a new kind of normal no one dare dream of. Please find it in your heart to share this with as many people as possible. Many people have reached out asking how they can help support Joe and his family. I thought this would be a good place to start. Please consider giving to support them and help ease some of the burden as they begin on this long journey of healing and fighting this terrible disease.
