As many of you know, my uncle Joe Fernandez recently underwent spinal surgery. He has shown incredible courage and strength throughout this journey, the surgery has left him unable to walk. His life has changed drastically, but his determination to adapt and keep going remains unshaken.

Unfortunately, the road ahead comes with new challenges that insurance will not cover. To make his home safe and accessible, and to give him the dignity and independence he deserves, he urgently needs:.

• A wheelchair lift & ramp – so he can safely enter and exit his home.

• An electronic lift – to move safely and reduce the risk of injury for both him and his caregivers.

• Home health assistance- assistance with personal care such as bathing, dressing, and mobility.

• Help with transfers in and out of bed, wheelchair, or bathroom safely.

• Other out-of-pocket medical expenses that continue to add up.

As one can imagine, the cost of these resources are overwhelming. This is why we are reaching out to our community — the same community that has always been such a big part of Uncle Joey’s life.
