Help Joe build a fence
Donation protected
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting an American hero, Joe Fields. Joe called me about getting a quote on fencing in his yard for his dogs. After meeting Joe, and learning of his story, I decided there was no way I was going to take any money from this man. He has already paid, nearly with his life, in 2005 in Iraq. Joe did not give me a sob story. In fact, he didn't give me much of a story at all. He just wanted me to give him a quote to do the work.
After a brief conversation, and using my skills to extract information from him, I learned that Joe is on a permanent feeding tube due to losing most of his digestive tract after an IED destroyed his 915 tractor trailer. Its a miracle he's even alive. Joe cannot, and will never work again. It is a daily struggle for him just to maintain his health. This morning I was informed that Joe's well has collapsed, and the money he and his wife were saving for the fence will now be needed to pay for a new well.
Currently, we have 2-3 dozen volunteers, and a local excavator donating his time and equipment to get the holes dug. Food is being graciously donated by a local diner and pizza shop to feed the workers. I am trying to get the materials donated, but in these times, I think that is going to be a tall order. Monetary donations to cover the cost of materials are going to be needed for a 600+ foot fence. Anything you can give will be a huge help. Any money leftover will go to Joe and his family for any future projects/repairs they may need. A wheelchair ramp may be needed in the next few years.
We are planning to tackle this project for Joe on May 15, 2021.
