Help Joe and Melanie Through a Life Changing Medical Crisis
Hi everyone,
My name is Heather, and I am Melanie’s sister. I am starting this fundraiser on behalf of my sister and her husband Joe, because right now they are walking through something no family is ever prepared for.
Almost one month ago, Joe developed a sudden and aggressive bacterial infection that sent him into septic shock. Within days he was in the ICU on life support. There were moments when we truly did not know if he would survive.
By the grace of God and an incredible medical team, Joe pulled through.
But survival came at a devastating cost.
The medications required to keep his blood pressure high enough to save his life caused severe damage to the circulation in his hands and feet. As a result, Joe will soon undergo surgery to remove portions of both of his hands. In the coming weeks, he will also face additional surgeries to amputate part of his feet.
He is currently on dialysis due to kidney failure from the septic event, and we are praying for recovery there as well.
If you know Joe, you know this: he is always the first one to show up when someone else is in need. He is the guy who drops everything to help a friend move, fix something, or simply sit beside you when life gets hard. He is steady, loyal, strong, and deeply devoted to his family. Watching him fight through this with courage has been both heartbreaking and inspiring.
Melanie has been at Joe’s bedside in Colorado since the moment this began. She has been away from her business, Harmony Aesthetics Center, for nearly a month. As a small business owner, when she is not physically present, revenue is significantly impacted. At the same time, medical bills, travel expenses, and the long road of rehabilitation and prosthetics are ahead of them.
The road forward will include:
• Multiple surgeries
• Extended hospital care
• Rehabilitation and prosthetics
• Ongoing dialysis and monitoring
• Travel and living expenses while Melanie remains by his side
We are asking for help to ease the financial burden during this unimaginable season so that Melanie can focus on what matters most right now: Joe’s recovery.
If you feel led to give, every contribution makes a difference. If you are unable to give financially, please share this page and keep Joe and Melanie in your prayers.
Our family believes deeply in resilience, faith, and community. Right now, we are leaning on all three.
Thank you for standing with them.
With love and gratitude,
Heather
