Help Joe and Cheryl Rebuild After Devastating Flood

My name is Denny and I’m raising money for my lifelong friend whom I’m known since Kindergarten. I grew up in Iowa but now live in Colorado. Living out of state prevents me from helping my friend directly. I know they need help but will never ask for it.

Joe and Cheryl Smith lost their home in the recent Northwest Iowa flood. Joe and Cheryl married in right after high school and have lived in the same home for 44 years. Their home has never been threatened with flooding before and was not in a flood zone. But mother nature did not look at the map. As such they did not have flood insurance. But the recent flood was the worst in history and Joe and Cheryl lost everything.

Joe and Cheryl are hardworking people who help people rather than ask for help. They were looking forward to retirement but now they face the difficult task of starting over. Hawarden is a small Midwest town with very limited housing. At this point in time, they have no idea what they are going to do and they are currently living in a camper. While most people are enjoying summer, Joe and Cheryl’s thoughts are turning to winter. They are faced with an impossible task of finding a place to live before winter gets here.
