My name is Cher Kuechle and I am asking for prayer and support for my brother-in-law, Joe Hurst and his family.
Early this morning, our family experienced something we never imagined. After driving to work, my brother-in-law, Joe, began experiencing symptoms of a stroke. By the grace of God, Joe was able to drive himself back home, where his wife Amy immediately rushed him to the emergency room.
Doctors confirmed that Joe was having a stroke caused by a complete blockage in his right carotid artery and a 50% blockage on his left side. Because of how serious his condition was, Joe was transferred by ambulance to West Jefferson Hospital in New Orleans, where he was rushed into emergency surgery to unblock the artery. He is currently in the ICU.
Right now, there are many unknowns. We don’t know how long Joe will remain hospitalized or if additional surgeries will be needed. We do know that his recovery will involve physical therapy, speech therapy, and long-term medications.
To make this season even more difficult, Joe recently changed jobs, and his health insurance does not begin until next week. With no insurance coverage, both Joe and Amy missing work, and medical bills already piling up, the financial burden is overwhelming—along with everyday household expenses.
We are asking for prayers first and foremost—for healing, strength, peace, and wisdom for Joe’s doctors and caregivers. We are also asking, if you feel led, for financial support to help cover medical bills and household expenses, so Joe and Amy can focus fully on his recovery.
If you know Joe, you know he would never ask for help himself. He is the kind of man who would give his last dollar or the shirt off his back to help someone else. Now, we are coming together to be that help for him.
If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this page and keeping Joe and Amy in your prayers. Every prayer, share, and act of kindness means more than we can express.
Thank you for surrounding this family with love, faith, and support.
