Hi everyone, it's me, Jodie.
My children are adults and even though we always need our mamas they do not need me in the same way that young children would. However, I’m in my Gigi era & I need to hang around a while longer so I can see my grandchildren grow up. They are old enough to just be starting school, sports and all the fun activities for grandparents to get to see and brag about. I want to be here for all these things and sleepovers!!!
I have recently undergone surgery, been diagnosed with ovarian Cancer and started chemo. Being told you have cancer is scary. It changes every aspect of your life regardless of the circumstances but hearing those words without having medical insurance adds an extra layer of fear, stress and uncertainty. I immediately questioned if I was worth the financial hardship that I was about to force on my family. I feel like a burden to my family on an emotional, physical and financial level like never before. I take care of people, not get taken care of.
I am usually the one to offer my help to others, to make food, to ask what I can do. I can be depended on when those I love need something. Instead today I am doing one of the hardest things for me to do, I am asking for help. We cannot do this alone. Between the already astronomical medical expenses, medications, missed work/income, and the extra day to day expenses I am extremely overwhelmed.
Please consider offering your support in any way you can-whether that is a donation, a prayer or a share of this page. Every contribution, no matter the amount helps ease a little of the stress I am under, allowing me to focus on healing.
Thank you for reading my story. Thank you to those who have already heard my story and have been reaching out on a regular basis. Thank you all for your kindness, generosity and your prayers. It all means more to me than I could ever put into words.
