Hey hey! My name is Jodie, but if you know me online you probably better know me as either Ballsticseal or Mon1ka. I'm currently in my second year of university and because of several health issues (including several chronic illnesses) i had to move closer to campus so i could continue studying without pushing my body to the brink on the travel alone. To afford this, I was relying on a government benefit (my fellow Australians will probably better know this as youth allowance provided by our beloved public institution centrelink) to cover my rent and utilities while my savings covered the rest.

This worked out for a while but my savings have basically become non-existent and I had to take on some debt to cover my groceries and other expenses. ill qualify for the independent rate (tldr a bit more money once I turn 22) at the start of next year which will give me a bigger financial buffer and I was originally planning to keep this juggling act until then, however a massive wrench has been thrown in this plan that needs addressing now.

Recently, the government support payments I used to cover my rent and essentials were canceled out of the blue due to some bureaucratic mistakes on their end and ive had to reapply. This has resulted in me being put in a financial limbo for several weeks due to losing the one piece that kept this leaning tower active and I need help to get back on my feet.

The money raised here will go to 3 goals, in the following order:

1. covering my rent/living expenses while I wait to hear back from the government.

2. paying down the debt i went into to survive after my savings ran out

3. begin to rebuild my savings so i can cover my bases in case of another emergency. This money will also go towards any chronic illness related medical bills or similar expenses.

The initial goal amount is designed to cover a fortnight’s worth of rent as well as contributing to goals 2 to 3 should the worst case play out.

For transparency, i will provide frequent updates on whats being spent where and how things are panning out (alongside more cat pics.) If you’re unable to donate, sharing this goes a long way helping me get out of this rut.
