About Jodie: She is a loving wife and mother to 3 amazing little boys. Battling to get care she desperately needs.
Her Story:
Jodie is living with a persistent CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) leak that started after a spinal anaesthetic during her C-section three months ago. This condition has been cruel, debilitating and poorly understood — and it’s made everyday life impossible. She's a mum who wants nothing more than to care for her beautiful boys, but at the moment she is not able to do that the way they deserve.
Her symptoms have worsened over the past two weeks. She can’t stay upright for long without a severe headache, visual disturbance, dizziness, heart palpitations, low blood pressure, and constant ringing and crackling in her ears. She collapsed in hospital and often feels like she is going to pass out. Her cognition has caused temporary hearing loss in her left ear — thankfully most of that has returned, but she doesn’t know what the long-term effects may be. Three months ago she was fine; now she's fighting to get back to normal.
She developed this CSF leak after a spinal anaesthetic at Whiston Hospital. A blood patch was attempted but was poorly executed and she was left without adequate follow-up. She was dismissed by some clinicians and told it was a migraine. She is grateful to the doctors who have listened and tried to help, but treatment access is inconsistent and slow. She's been advised to go private for quicker intervention, but that isn’t an option for her family right now. I believe the NHS should help put right what began after my operation.
This condition is often misdiagnosed and under-recognised. She's raising money not only to access the care she urgently needs — whether that’s another blood patch, further injections, or a surgical repair — but also to cover travel, private consultations if needed, medication, and basic living expenses while her and her husband unable to work or care for her children as before. Any funds left over will help with ongoing recovery support and essential childcare while she get treatment.
If even one person reads her story and gets help earlier because they recognize the signs, then sharing this experience will have been worth it. Please consider donating, sharing this campaign, and keeping her family in your thoughts or prayers. She appreciates every message, share, and pound — and she will keep this page updated with my progress and next steps.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. - Jodie
