I am a 65-year-old nurse and have spent over 45 years caring for others. Throughout my career, I have always put my patients first, offering comfort and support during their most difficult times. Now, I find myself in a position where I need to ask for help for myself, which is not easy for me to do.
Recently, I was diagnosed with Breast Implant Illness (BII). This was new to me, but learning that my health issues were linked to my implants may have just saved my life. My symptoms began with pain all over, which led to a diagnosis of fibromyalgia. Then came severe dry eyes, hair loss, sleep apnea, allergies, gut problems, and heart palpitations—each sending me to different specialists and even surgeries. My allergies have become so severe that I have respiratory reactions to scents and break out in rashes from certain fabrics. No doctor ever connected the dots to my breast implants. I was always told my saline implants were safe, but I’ve learned that none are truly safe and they can even cause cancer from the capsule formed in my body. My biggest concern is that if they rupture before removal, mold and bacteria could leak through my body, which could be life-threatening. I prayed about going public with this, but I decided to share my story in hopes it might help someone else connect the dots in their own journey.
The surgery I need to remove my implants is not covered by insurance, and the only specialist who can perform it is out of state. This means I have to cover the cost of the surgery, travel expenses, and time off work while I recover. The total expenses are overwhelming, and I am reaching out to my community for support during this challenging time. Any amount of donation would be deeply appreciated and would go directly toward my surgery, travel, and recovery costs. Your kindness and prayers mean the world to me as I navigate this journey. Thank you for considering helping me in my time of need. God Bless.
