Our dear mother Joanne has recently been diagnosed with stage II uterine papillary serous carcinoma. For those of you who know her, you know that she is an extraordinary human being. She is cheerful, loving, unbelievably strong and always puts her friends and family before herself.

She underwent surgery in the middle of September to remove the cancer. With further testing cancerous cells were detected in her lymph nodes. As a result, she will be having to undergo 4 months of chemotherapy starting October 16th, followed by a month of radiation. As you can imagine - this news has shaken our entire family.

Because of this, she will not be able to live independently as she has quite a journey ahead of her. Joanne currently lives in North Carolina while her daughter is in Maryland and her son in New York. She is not currently surrounded by family members or friends. We are working hard to get her relocated to NY before her radiation treatment. This is all happening very fast. With the everyday necessities of life, money is getting tighter and tighter.

Joanne is one of the strongest, most selfless women I have ever known and is always there to give her love and support or the shirt off her back to anyone that needs it. Now, it's time that we send back some of that love and support to Joanne.
