Hi All. I’m Laina, Joanne’s cousin, raising money to help her recover and rebuild.
Joanne unfortunately lost her home during Hurricane Ian. Her house was on Pine Island, Florida which was devastated, as you likely saw on the news.
Miraculously, Joanne’s home is still standing but was entirely flooded and needs to be completely gutted and rebuilt. She lost all furniture, clothes and a lifetime of memories. To make matters worse, her husband Peter passed away 6 months ago, and she doesn’t have flood insurance.
I asked Joanne two weeks ago if I could start a Go Fund Me for her. She initially said no because she felt bad taking money from people. She is now overwhelmed by the amount of work and money it will cost to rebuild.
We are hoping to raise $50,000 to aid in gutting and then rebuilding her home from scratch, plus furniture, appliances, etc.
We understand it’s not easy for everyone to donate financially. If you can, even a small amount would make a difference.
