Hi Everyone, I’m Peggy, manager of a Respiratory Department. Please meet Joanie, one of my assistant managers. Joanie has been a respiratory therapist for almost 30 years, specializing in neonatal/pediatric respiratory therapy. Joanie finished her Bachelor's degree and transitioned to management two years ago. Joanie is very upbeat and positive, seeing the good in everyone. Joanie was at work every day during the pandemic, working as a team leader, staffing, and trying to keep the morale of the department up.
Things have been going well for Joanie, not only in her career, but also in her personal life. Last week, Joanie and her husband closed on their home and on Thursday started to move into their new place. Joanie has been off the past week trying to get fully moved in, finishing last night. Today was to be her first night sleeping in their new place. Joanie and her husband got up this morning to finish the cleaning on the rental house they had been in. While they were there, Joanie received a call, her new place was on fire. By the time Joanie and her husband reached the house, it was destroyed, losing everything they owned, including their dog. All that survived are the clothes they had on and their car. Yes, they had insurance, but we know how insurance companies work!
Have you ever sat down and tried to write a list of everything you own? Joanie and her husband have no clothes, undergarments, shoes, personal hygiene products, furniture, kitchen stuff, or their beloved pets. Joanie is the first one to jump in when our department does fundraisers for veterans experiencing homelessness, victims of the Paradise fire, books for the underserved, etc. Joanie has served everyone and anyone her entire career. Joanie and her husband lost everything this morning, and now I hope we can help Joanie out as she always helps others. Joanie did not ask for this gofundme, but she deserves all we can do for her. Please share with all your friends, healthcare workers, and anyone you can think of. I can’t get the sound of her crying out of my head when she called to tell me earlier. Please help Joanie, even if it's just a $1. It adds up.
Thank you
