I’m writing this on behalf of my friend, Joana. Unfortunately, she is in a desperate financial situation with no alternative but to ask for help. She’s been battling various cancers and awful disease caused by treatments for years. Just last month undergoing surgery to remove lung cancer yet still recovering and unable to work because of her chronic pain. The reality of their financial situation is simply too much to bear. We are humbly asking you to consider donating to support their survival. This is incredibly difficult for them to ask but Joana and her husband have nothing left, and their need is immediate.

She lives in the Santa Cruz mountains with her dedicated, loving husband and their furry rescued family. Sadly, after the bills and lack of income because of her diseases, surgeries, and relentless rounds of cancer – they are left destitute and must leave their home out of necessity. For those of you who don’t know Joana – she has dedicated her life to those in the most traumatic situations – working years with refugees of war and torture, spending decades supporting children with cancer, and serving as bereavement counselor to families dealing with child and traumatic loss. Things that no one should have to experience, she was there for them and still is. Even their animals who are so loved, were previously abandoned or abused: animals with the greatest need brought into their loving home for a new lease on life.

And now every bit of news and bills coming in brings doom and there is just no way to pay. It breaks my heart writing this and I will not rest until they have some bit of hope that the love they give has not been for naught.
