Joan and Chris’s Story

Joan and Chris never imagined they’d be in this position, reaching out to friends, family, and compassionate strangers for help. For the past 25 years, their house has been more than just walls and a roof – it's where they raised a child, where they've shared countless holiday meals, and where they've built a lifetime of memories. Now, they are fighting with everything they have to keep it.

The Challenge They Face

Due to a predatory loan in 2006, constantly stall tactics on over 11 loan modification attempts and illegal behaviors by the banks, which caused extreme financial damages, they are now in danger of losing their family home. The home that they opened their doors to hundreds of us every year for an annual BBQ. The legal process is moving quickly, and they need to secure funds for assistance to fight back and to have any chance of resolving this situation.

The total amount needed to address the immediate threat is $10,000. This will cover the cost of hiring a proper expert to respond to the various court issues.

With proper representation and the ability to address the outstanding obligations, they believe they can find a solution that allows them to stay in their home.

For those that do not know, since 1984, Joan has been donating her time for free to help children and their families. This has left them financially devastated. If they are successful, Joan will be able to continue to volunteer work with children and their families. Without support, she will have no choice but to shut down the nonprofit she started to help families in need.
