While enjoying what was supposed to be a dream holiday in Thailand, our dear friend Jo suffered a horrific accident. She fell from a horse and sustained severe, life-altering damage to her spine.
She was rushed to a local Thai hospital, where she had to undergo emergency spinal surgery. Thankfully, she made it through the operation and is now in the difficult, painful early stages of recovery. Her partner, Stu, has been by her side every minute, navigating this nightmare far away from home.
While we are so grateful that Jo is receiving the medical care she needs, they are facing a terrifying financial reality. Unfortunately, Jo and Stu are not covered by their insurance for this accident.
As of March 10th, their medical bills have already surpassed £21,000—and this number is climbing every single day.
This current total only covers the emergency surgery and her immediate hospital stay. It does not include:
- Ongoing daily intensive care and hospital fees.
- Extensive physiotherapy and rehabilitation.
- The massive cost of specialised medical repatriation flights to safely bring Jo back to the UK when she is stable enough to travel.
Jo and Stu are incredible people who would drop everything to help anyone else in a heartbeat. Now, they are stranded thousands of miles away, facing an unimaginable physical and financial mountain. We desperately need to alleviate the financial stress so Stu can focus purely on Jo’s recovery and getting her safely back home.
Please, if you can spare anything at all—no matter how small—it will make a massive difference.
If you are unable to donate right now, please share this page on your social media, in WhatsApp groups etc.
Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts for your love, generosity, and support during this incredibly dark time. We will keep this page updated with Jo’s progress.
