Dear Friends,
I find myself in a healthcare quandary and this is something that's hard for me to do!
I recently lost one of my hearing aids and need to purchase replacements. The remaining hearing aid is so old that it is no longer on Kaiser's contract and it would cost more to buy the old model (to match the existing one) than to buy a new model. A new pair of middle of the road hearing aids (which is what the Audiologist recommended to me in light of how often I go outside of my home) cost $3600 out of pocket.
I've been trying to make do with one hearing aid, but it really does not work well. I cannot hear what's going on around me and feel quite isolated. As you may or may not know I am living on a very limited fixed income and don't have the money for the new hearing aids and I am hoping that my friends can help me out.
With much love
Jo Whitmer
