Hi everyone! We are the James Madison University Club Ski and Snowboard Team! This year, we are sending 20+ athletes who have qualified to compete and represent JMU to the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association's (USCSA) National Championships! Our athletes have worked extremely hard this season, practicing twice a week and attending competitions in Virginia and North Carolina every weekend, and are so excited to have this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to represent James Madison University at the national level!
Last year, our women's alpine snowboard placed first, followed by the men's alpine snowboard team in second place! This year we will be taking a full team of five in the following disciplines: Men's and Women's Freestyle skiing, and Men's and Women's Alpine Snowboarding. We will also be taking athletes in other skiing and snowboarding disciplines.
With that being said, skiing and snowboarding are expensive sports, and as we are a club sport at JMU, funding from the school is minimal. Each athlete attending the National Championships will need to cover accommodations, travel, food, race fees AND lift tickets for an entire week, which adds up to a hefty price. The team has started a GoFundMe in hopes to raise as much money as we can in order to minimize costs for our athletes.
If you are willing and able, we would greatly appreciate it if you could read more about our team and the fundraiser and consider making a donation to help us represent James Madison University at the USCSA National Championships!
That being said, wish us luck for this amazing once-in-a-lifetime competition.
GO DUKES!!!
