ABOUT J.J.
J.J. is the kind of person you can count on during hard times, and the kind of person you want beside you when life is joyful. Whether showing up for a friend in crisis or bringing laughter and warmth into a room, J.J. has always uplifted the people around her. She has also dedicated her career to social impact work, pouring her energy into helping others.
Because of this, asking for help does not come naturally to her. But right now, she truly needs it.
J.J. had been dealing with unexplained health challenges for years before doctors were finally able to diagnose her with Lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks healthy tissue throughout the body.
Shortly after her 30th birthday in Fall 2025, she received a second diagnosis: Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder (NMOSD) – a rare autoimmune condition that attacks the spinal cord and optic nerves, causing severe pain, spasms, vision problems, mobility challenges, and increased disability with every attack.
Since this second diagnosis, J.J. has been hospitalized 7 times while her doctors work to stabilize her condition. Her doctors estimate recovery and stabilization could take 6-12 months. Shortly after receiving this diagnosis, J.J. was let go from her full-time job and denied both severance and unemployment benefits, leaving her without a source of income.
CURRENT SITUATION
J.J. is currently being sued by her landlord and facing eviction while also managing mounting medical bills, rental fees, living expenses, and maxed-out credit cards. Resolving her housing situation has become an urgent priority while she continues treatment and recovery. She is actively applying for jobs, assistance programs, supportive living communities, and exploring every option available to her, but her financial needs are immediate and growing.
