Medical cost fundraiser for a special little dog

Surgery is scheduled for March 25th!

What happened: JJ was playing frisbee at a park in December with Volt. A loose dog ran at Volt just as she was landing from catching a disc. The dog crashed into Volt. She is a stoic little dog & did not cry out, just ran back to mom, but 3 legged lame. No owner was ever located of the loose dog.

After a few days of lameness JJ knew this was not just a tweak that would resolve itself. Volt had radiographs done but no fracture was discovered at this time. Medications & crate rest were prescribed. 3 weeks later there was no improvement. More crate rest was recommended. Still no improvement, & JJ was referred to The Sams Clinic, veterinary orthopedic specialists in Mill Valley. Volt received computed tomography & ultrasound. The result of these advanced diagnostics revealed two fractures. Surgery is the only option to repair the injury.

The Dog: Volt is JJ’s most active dog, & loves all the things! Disc, dock, flyball, toys, running, playing, Volt enjoys all of it. She is not ready to retire & call it quits. She is also JJ’s shadow & “best cuddler”. Volt is loving & sweet, always with a smile on her face. JJ does not want to see that smile fad by ending her active life.

The person: If you know JJ then you know her dogs are her everything. Maybe you can relate to the heartache you feel when one of your beloved dog family members is in pain, or unable to do what they love. JJ will do anything for her dogs. She is a wonderful dog mom. She takes great care of her dogs & has insurance. For those of us that have pet insurance you know how it works. They look for any reason to deny a claim. Volt’s insurance provider has denied the claim for her surgery. Insurance has paid for some of the veterinary care & diagnostics leading up to the surgery estimate. But with a $10K cap, & a claim denied for the surgery JJ is at the end of her rope.
