Hello, friends. Many of you know me as Jinx or Gerie—your scuba instructor, body piercer, community member, and friend. Today, I’m reaching out with humility and hope after my life changed overnight.

What Happened:

On Wednesday, August 6th, I suffered multiple ischemic strokes. In moments, I lost the ability to speak and was partially paralyzed. Though I’ve fought hard to regain my speech and some movement, my right side remains extremely weak. Every step and word is a victory, but recovery is a long road.

Why I Need Your Help:

My medical insurance had lapsed so I am forced to pay for all expenses in cash. My work is my livelihood—scuba diving and body piercing require full physical ability. Right now, I cannot safely teach diving or perform piercings until I regain strength in my right side. With no income and mounting bills, I’m facing overwhelming stress:

-Medical expenses: from emergency care and ongoing treatment

- Physical therapy (critical for regaining mobility)

- Rent/Utilities and basic living costs while I heal

-Therapy for trauma from the experience

My Goal & How Funds Will Be Used:

1. Critical physical therapy sessions

2. Outstanding medical bills

3. Rent, groceries, and essentials during recovery
