Help Jinger Get Back To Her Family Across the Country!

My name is Kelleen Thaxton, of Pawsitive Change for Kitsap Cats (PCKC), a volunteer organization that helps cats and their people (pet owners and feral caretakers) in my area of Washington State, USA. We rarely ask for financial help except for large Trap/Neuter/Return efforts, large unexpected vet bills, and other emergency needs. This is one of those needs!

PLEASE HELP JINGER!

Poor Jinger got out of her former home in Kitsap County, WA State while her family was moving, and they had to leave the state without her. Her owner reached out for my trapping help, and Jinger remained lost for nearly two weeks until she was finally trapped.

Tragically, while i was working on getting Jinger to safety , her owner and owner’s son were in an automobile accident in their moving truck during their drive across the country, and were both hospitalized in Montana.

Jinger’s owner Gaby is now out of hospital but her son is not. They are working on recovery, getting the moving truck out of impound, getting Jinger’s two fur siblings back from Animal Control (who picked them up from the accident site), and eventually finishing the move to Chicago. Despite all of this physical and emotional trauma, Gaby is absolutely determined - and desperate - to get Jinger to Chicago when their new home is ready for her. Her pets are her life!

Jinger has been accepted for now into Kitsap Humane Society’s Short Term Emergency Placement Program. Now the efforts to get her back to Gaby’s arms begin.

While Jinger has been a beloved indoor only pet for over two years, she is a “former feral” who is extremely shy and easily stressed. And she has had so much trauma in the past few weeks! Being shipped cross-country alone in a heat wave in an airline cargo hold would be cruel torture for her, and could even be fatal.

Estimates I got for Safe and humane pet transport for one cat between Kitsap County WA and Chicago were $1000 - $2000 on the low end.

The initial move cost, truck rental, accident and medical bills, hotel in Billings, truck impound fees, and pet boarding and transport for her other two pets have quickly wiped out Gaby’s little bit of savings. I have created this gofundme to at least help her with Jinger’s transport expenses.
