Help Jim's Long Road to Recovery

I just wanted to share that my little brother Jim Rogers, my niece Dakota Rogers, and her boyfriend Tyler were in a head-on collision Monday, 1/12/26, around 5 pm in the evening. The driver of the vehicle that struck them is suspected to have been drunk at the time. Dakota and Jim were both transported to Munson Cadillac by ambulance, and Tyler's family brought him to the ER. Tyler has bumps, bruises, and extreme soreness; he was on the passenger side. Dakota has a bruised lung, many abrasions, and bruising along her entire body. I suspect a minor concussion as well because her mind is still quite foggy, and she's easily confused. She was in the back seat; her seatbelt ripped out of the floor, and she ended up in the back hatch of the car. Jim was driving and took the worst of the crash. Jim was later transported by helicopter to Munson Traverse City. Jim has a fractured orbital lobe on his left eye (which can cause blindness if it doesn't heal correctly). He has facial fractures on the left side (which will most likely require surgery). He has lacerations on his left eye that required stitches to close his eyelid. He has 2 broken ribs on his right side. He had to have emergency hip surgery to have his right hip replaced due to the extensive damage. He has a broken ankle with pins holding it in place. His right foot is their biggest concern right now as the surgeon said, "Well... I made his foot look like a foot." I won't go into details as that is a scary and terrifying thing for all of us. Tyler is home and back to school and work, Dakota is home and safely resting in her bed. Jim will not be home for a very long time. After he is released from the hospital, he will be going to Mary Free Bed in TC for rehabilitation. I refuse to call this an accident. Someone chose to drink, to get in their vehicle, and drive. I am angry and frustrated and furious and... their lives will never be the same. We are asking for donations to help with gas, house bills, groceries, and to try to get a reliable car to get back and forth to TC (an hour each way) daily to be with Jim as his recovery will take many many months. Please note, most of this post was copied from my sister-in-law Erin Rogers, but I edited it so I could put it on my wall as well as make this GoFundMe. Please keep my family in your prayers as well. They are going to need it, especially since Jim has already been out of work for a year with a work-related back injury. (He was scheduled for an ablation on the nerves in his back the day after the accident.) Erin will be setting up an account at their local bank soon, that way their friends and family can donate locally in Cadillac. I will update this post as I get all the information. Thank you all for your continued prayers and taking the time to read this post. Very much appreciated. May God bless you all.
