Help Jimmy's Recover from Devastating Break-Ins
Donation protected
Yo! Can we get a little help please?
The Short Story
Our business, a 105 year old Connecticut mom and pop retailer, has suffered 8 break-ins over 4 months. We're close to $30K in the hole, and are struggling to recover. Thankfully, the man responsible has been arrested.
We're hoping the community can help us recoup the costs of broken glass, repairs, stolen merchandise, a new security system, etc, etc.
The Long Version
For 105 years, Jimmy's has been a staple in Connecticut - started by Max "Jimmy" Schneider in 1920. His son, Bob Schneider, took over in 1958 and is 92 and still comes in every day. Bob's son, Dave, joined the team in 1984 and runs the business today.
We love our community, we love our customers. Unfortunately, in recent times, due to the economy, the internet and challenges of running a mom and pop shop, our six stores were reduced to one store. That said, the one store that's surviving is off its knees and on its feet.
We have a staff of six people and we treat all like family members. It's not the completely correct way to run a business, but it is how we do it.
Recently, we have had a succession of break-ins - in which windows were smashed, and cash and/or merchandise stolen from the store. There have been eight break-ins in four months.
Due to window repairs, loss of stolen merchandise/cash, installing a new high-tech security system, etc, etc, right now we are at a loss of nearly $30,000. In addition, we are also trying to purchase security gates for the store and upgrade our security system a little bit more.
So many people have reached out and we are very touched. Some dear friends have offered to start this Go Fund Me - we definitely feel awkward about it - but, hey after 105 years, we're in a ditch and we need a shovel.
We're humbly asking for any help you can give to help us get through this difficult time, and appreciate any donation no matter how small.
