Hello and thank you in advance for taking the time to read this. My dad, Jim Harris, who you all know and adore, is in dire need to assistance.
If you are unaware, my dad suffered multiple serious health scares over the last few years.
First, it was a brain abscess that was left untreated for months because hospital staff refused to take it seriously. Eventually it was an emergency and required 10 hour surgery, and required a hole in his head to be drained daily for several weeks. As many of you know, we dealt with this without any help from our family and only were able to get my dad to/from his appointments thanks to the immense help and compassion from you, our friends and chosen family.
Because of this, my dad lost his job at Good Earth Grocery as he was unable to work. Disability was not coming through either.
More recently, he had to miss extended periods of work because of a hernia and eventually surgery and recovery for that. If you haven't seen my dad in person recently, he's lost a significant amount of weight because of this.
He's had to sell his prized guitars to survive-- not only does that mean he no longer has his guitar signed by his idol, Johnny Winter, but it also means he can no longer play music. Most of you who know him just screamed. It's unreal.
He had to sell his car to his landlord to make rent, which now means he can't make it to work.
Disability is still not coming through.
Unfortunately we do not have family who we can go to in situations like this (again, what happened with his brain surgery was deeply traumatic) and I wish we had any spare room to move him into but we live in a studio apartment so that's not an option.
My dad needs to be able to get back on his feet to be able to survive, and hopefully get to a place he can finally catch his breath and start moving forward again.

We need to reach a goal where he can pay his back rent, get his car back so he can work, and ideally be able to eat, gas up the car, and someday maybe get a guitar back so he can play music again.

You all adore my dad, often more than your own dads. You all tell me how lucky i am to be his kid, and trust me i know. He's my best friend in the universe and i brag about him constantly. He's likely driven you home, made you lunch, let you crash at my grandma's house with us, played a show you were at, played an event for you, done stand up with you. He's definitely made you laugh and been there when you cried. He's my dad but he's all your dad and friend too. Time to be there for him, too. Please. I need my daddy to be okay more than i need air. Please help us. Thank you for reading.
