Support Jimmy McDonough and his Family

On March 1st, 2024, our dear friend Jimmy McDonough suffered a debilitating stroke at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto after undergoing knee surgery. The effects of the stroke have been devastating. Jimmy is paralyzed on one side of his body and incapable of communicating.

Following two separate stays in the intensive care unit at St. Mike's, Jimmy was moved to the old Branson Hospital where, unfortunately, his condition has not improved to any great extent. This lack of improvement, in turn, is preventing the initiation of rehabilitative care. Transfer to a long term care facility is therefore the present plan.

Jimmy's stroke has obviously come as a great shock to everyone who knows and loves him. Jimmy has always been such a cheerful, exuberant and larger than life character that the severely debilitating effects of his stroke has been all the more heartbreaking.

As a consequence of this terrible situation, Jimmy's wife and son are experiencing significant financial hardship. Jimmy was the breadwinner of the family. We therefore call on anyone who has crossed paths with Jimmy, be it through school, work or his beloved sporting endeavours, to step up and provide some assistance to Lucia and James Jr. at this difficult time. The funds raised through this campaign will fund enhanced care for Jimmy and help offset the financial challenges now facing his family.

Needless to say, we are all pulling for Jimmy and hoping that someday soon we will once again be able to enjoy that infectious grin, boundless energy and McDonough charm which made Jimmy so special.
