My name is Jimmy, and I’m reaching out to the Placerville community for support as I work to rebuild my life. After being released from incarceration, I arrived in Placerville with nowhere to go and no place to call home. Despite these challenges, I was determined to make a fresh start. I found work at Marshall Hospital, Western Slope Rehabilitation Center, Safeway, and Caltrans, doing my best to contribute to the community and get back on my feet. Unfortunately, I lost my housing due to a parole violation, and I’ve been struggling to regain stability ever since.
Recently, I managed to buy a car to help me get off the streets, continue my education, and search for better job opportunities. However, my car broke down, and now it’s stuck in the shop. Without it, I can’t reach job interviews or look for housing in Cameron Park, El Dorado Hills, and other nearby areas. Employers are less likely to hire someone without reliable transportation, and it’s become a major barrier to moving forward.
I’ve heard people say negative things about this community, especially about how someone like me might be treated. But in my two years here, I’ve only experienced kindness and acceptance from the people of Placerville. I’m grateful for the support I’ve received and hopeful that, with your help, I can get my car back and take the next steps toward a brighter future. Any support you can offer would mean the world to me. Thank you for being the caring, hard-working community that you are.
