Jimmy became very sick with the flu, which turned into double pneumonia on March 28. His condition worsened quickly, and I rushed him to the hospital when I noticed his oxygen was dangerously low. The doctors found his oxygen was only at 45, and they had to put him on a ventilator and life support. They told me it would only be a couple of days for his lungs to heal, but he remained sedated for 22 days. Then, one day, the doctors said they needed to wake him up and take him off all sedation because he needed to get out of bed and walk—he now needs a lung transplant to recover.

Jimmy is a loving father—not only to his own children, but to other children around him who were less fortunate. He always gave, even when he didn’t have much himself. He’s also a devoted grandfather to almost 3-year-old twins, whom he loves dearly. His kindness and generosity have touched so many lives, and now he needs our help more than ever.

This has been an incredibly difficult and emotional journey for both of us. Jimmy is strong and a fighter, but the road ahead is long and uncertain. The costs of transporting him to a hospital for his lung transplant, along with hospital bills, insurance, travel, lodging, and everyday expenses, are overwhelming. We are doing everything we can, but we can’t do it alone.
