Thu was diagnosed with stage four cancer when Ryan was 7 months old. She fought like hell to stay alive doing aggressive chemo treatment in order to maximize the time she could spend with her family. Besides weekly chemo she underwent major abdominal surgery but because of Covid- 19 the surgery was delayed and hospital stays became more and more stressed and care inadequate with over 90 days in the hospital from January to March. Her husband never left her side. Friends, family and and strangers babysit Ryan during this time and Jim cannot thank them enough.
Sadly despite every effort Thu died May 17th and Jim lost his mental capacity to think clearly and stopped eating and was hospitalized himself in June but has managed to survive but unable to work. After losing a 120 pounds this year Jim finally turned it around with help a friend, (Vinh ), helped coach him into eating again when others could not despite trying desperately. Jim has managed to get Ryan back and keep the two of them alive sheltering in place with just the two of them since July. The future is unwritten but challengers to be sure like us all, Jim has chosen to stay alive to care for his son.

Wishing everyone a better 2021.
