My name is Nick Saulnier and I’m reaching out for support for my father, Jim Saulnier, who was recently diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). This is a rare and aggressive blood cancer. MDS affects the bone marrow's ability to produce healthy blood cells, and without treatment this illness can be fatal.
To fight this disease, my dad will need to undergo chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant—the most effective treatment for higher-risk MDS. This lifesaving procedure replaces damaged blood-forming cells with healthy ones from a donor, offering the best chance at a cure.
My dad has spent over 40 years as a career firefighter, dedicating his life to protecting others in their most vulnerable moments. He’s the kind of person who always puts others first—whether it was running into burning buildings or helping a neighbor in need. Now, he faces the toughest battle of his life, and he needs our help.
My family and I are raising funds to help cover the overwhelming costs of my father’s transplant, medical treatments, travel to appointments, and daily living expenses as he fights this disease. During this time, my mom will be unable to work as she devotes herself to caring for him, ensuring he receives the support he needs and maintaining a sterile environment crucial for his recovery. Any contribution, big or small, will make an enormous impact in giving my dad the best possible chance to overcome this illness.
Please consider sharing this page with friends, family, and on social media. Your support—whether through donations, words of encouragement, or simply spreading the word—means the world to us.
We will keep everyone updated on my dad’s progress. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and generosity.
