Help Jim & Sandee After Jim's Tractor Accident
Donation protected
Friends and family of Jim and Sandee Freese, here’s the promised opportunity to help them in their time of need. Please share if you can. This account is managed by their nieces, Sheila Corson & Christina Lickfold, and we have their permission to run this.
On Thursday, April 17, Jim was in a tractor accident. His pelvis and foot were shattered, right leg broken, left leg cracked. Thankfully, his vitals have been good as well as his spine, organs, etc. The doctors have remarked about his overall strong bones, and we’ve laughingly thanked the family cow when they were growing up. #GodBlessCookieTheCow
Jim has been at Harborview in Seattle since that Thursday night, undergoing two surgeries (one on the pelvis, the other on the foot). He has a long schedule of follow-ups and physical therapy. We are working on finding the right rehabilitation center for him where we can also care for Sandee while she watches over him. There will be a lot more info to come, but at this point it will be several weeks before Jim will be able to even bear weight on both legs.
Please pray: Pray for Jim’s healing and Sandee’s continued health as she is with him. Pray for strength for those helping to keep the farm afloat while they are gone. Pray for all the paperwork, finances, and overwhelming details to take care of. Pray for wisdom and skill for the care staff. Praise God and pray for the opportunities Jim and Sandee have already had to witness about Jesus with other patients and caregivers.
And don’t worry - Jim is still keeping up on his daily quota of bad puns. He will have lots for you all the next time he sees you.
Thanks for your prayers, love, support, and generosity. There are many already who have stepped up to help. It means a lot to us all. The total expected cost is very unclear at this point. We won't know many details for a while, but here are some of the numbers getting quoted at us: $200+/day for rehab for 3-6 months ($36,000 with rough numbers); ambulance transportation that insurance won't cover could be $20,000; plus the cost of hotel stays and other expenses for Sandee as she takes care of Jim wherever he gets transferred to (who knows?!). Jim will obviously not be able to work during this time either, so it is unclear all the affects to the farm and their income.
Since it's hard to really nail down any numbers, we are starting our goal lower than we think the total will be. So far, it's been over $2,000 just in hotel stays for Sandee, and we keep getting different stories as to whether he needs to stay longer in Seattle or will get transferred soon to Spokane where more family can alleviate Sandee's costs. No doubt the goal will change, but we need to start somewhere.
We will update the goal amount and the status regularly as we have more details, but expenses are already adding up. We appreciate any amount you can contribute.
Jim and Sandee said: "Many, many thanks to all who have contributed. We feel so unworthy of your generosity but we are so appreciative."
