Hello friends, neighbors, and family! Remember Jim the hair guy? Your buddy, your stylist, the guy who ran the salon I work in, the Time Out Youth activist, and dog lover? Well, he needs our help.
Remember that massive stroke he had in October of 2023? Do you remember him thinking that he would be back to work and back to his normal life in 6 months? I know I do... but that never happened despite him trying so hard to get back what he’d lost. That stroke took away the use of the left side of his body, his ability to feel what was in his mouth, and the feeling of swallowing, as well as causing cognitive deficits. He has been in physical therapy since the stroke and has been working his skinny butt off to regain some control of his mind and body, but he still has so much work and healing ahead of him. He certainly looks and sounds a whole lot better than he did; however, he’s been through absolute hell and needs our help climbing his way out of the debt that now keeps him down.
Jim has applied for disability, not gotten it, applied again, and is now applying AGAIN. He’s not sitting on his ass feeling sorry for himself. He’s constantly working on getting better and getting the help that he desperately needs...
Here’s a short list of what he’s been through in the last 2 years:
◦ Left side hemiparesis
◦ Cognitive deficits
◦ Being taken advantage of at a car dealership because of cognitive deficits
◦ Not being able to do hair, therefore losing his business and clientele and all income
◦ Taking out a loan to keep his car, thinking that he would be working again soon
◦ Trying again to work in a salon and failing
◦ Medical bills
◦ Defaulting on loan
◦ Trying again to work in a salon and failing
◦ Being evicted and forced to relocate not once but three times
◦ Finding out that he was going to be homeless after the last eviction, so he donated all of his belongings and packed a few bags and a mat to sleep in his car.
CAN YOU IMAGINE IF THIS HAPPENED TO YOU???
Jim has returned to Charlotte and is depending on our community and friends to help get him through the most challenging time of his life. Let’s ALL CHIP IN AND HELP JIM. He is not lazy, not a bum, but a victim of a medical event with lasting consequences that no one could get through by themselves.
