Help Jim Miresse With Medical Expenses And Bills

Donation protected
Hi everyone, I'm trying to help my dad, James Miresse, out.  He had emergency surgery on Monday 5/6/19 and is going to be in the hospital for a few days and out of work for a couple weeks most likely.  He's a proud guy and would never ask for help, but I know that being laid up and having these medical bills are going to make things rough for him.  If you have even a few dollars to spare, I know it would go a long way towards helping him not stress about bills and lost wages while he is recovering.  I'm setting a goal of $1,500 to at least cover his rent while he is not working, and if donations by chance go over that, it will help him pay some other monthly bills.  I'd rather no one mention to him that I'm raising money for him until the fundraiser is over- otherwise he might whack me with hospital bed remote next time I go visit ;)  Like I said, he's a proud, tough guy.  But he really deserves some help and needs to catch a break. (Edited to add- we are hopeful that the hospital will pay for this surgery, but that is not confirmed. I think his biggest worry currently is being off of work to recover so he won’t be making money to pay rent, health/car insurance, phone, other bills)

He went in for a regular routine colonoscopy on 5/6/19.  I arrived at the doctor's office to pick him up around noon to take him home, but before leaving, he casually mentioned some upper side and shoulder discomfort that he was having to the nurse.  I'm very glad she took this seriously!  They ordered a few X-Rays and it turns out that the doctor had accidentally perforated my dad's colon!  That is actually a pretty serious complication, and he ended up needing to be transported to Waukesha Memorial via ambulance immediately.

At the Waukesha Memorial ER, a CT confirmed the perforated colon.   Emergency surgery was scheduled and off he went for a few hours!   Sitting in the waiting room seemed like forever to me.  And someone needs to remind me to stop looking at WebMD for every medical thing- there's some scary stuff on there! They ended up having to remove 6 inches of his colon on his right side, and his appendix.  He did well during the surgery, but I can tell he is still in a lot of pain.  They are hoping to release him from the hospital on Thursday 5/9/19, but its still early to tell.  He will have more follow up scans this afternoon to make sure everything is looking good.

He does have 3 really cool scars on his stomach now- I told him he should just tell people he got into a rough and rowdy brawl at a biker bar!  Because telling people the truth- that he went it for a colonoscopy and the doctor poked a hole in his colon which caused him to end up in the hospital and out of work for weeks just isn't quite as bad ass sounding as a tough guy like him deserves :)

So anyways, I'm just hoping that some friends and family can band together to help my dad out.  He's a good guy and always there to help others when in need.  He's had a rough go of it with health lately, and this most recent setback is going to be  really tough one.  He could use a helping hand if you are able!  Even if you can't donate, sharing his fundraiser, giving him a call to chat or saying a prayer is just as appreciated!  Thank you!
